The newly upgraded Model 3 High Performance Edition landed on Tesla’s official website and was unveiled at its Tesla Center in Chaoyang, Beijing, which is the largest single delivery center in Asia. In addition, Tesla Model 3 is the world’s first electric car with sales exceeding one million units. This year, the newly unveiled Model 3 features dozens of new upgrades to the exterior, interior, performance, handling, and cabin comfort.
With more horsepower, more torque, and faster acceleration, the newly upgraded Model 3 perfomance breaks through the limits of acceleration performance once again, with 100km acceleration up to 3.1 seconds, top speed up to 261km/h, and the power of the single motor increased by more than 20%. On this basis, the total peak power of the vehicle reached 460 horsepower, which is the Model 3 performance version of the inherent “track strength”, the biggest highlight of Tesla in the Model 3 added adaptive adjustment suspension system!
The introduction of Track Mode V3 will also be a highlight for those who are passionate about track driving. This mode is newly tuned for the powertrain and adaptive suspension, offering customizable handling balance, stability control and kinetic energy recovery. The latest generation of driving modes integrates the adaptive suspension control system with the performance-optimized powertrain.
Adaptive Suspension Systems
The new Adaptive Suspension Systems are a Model 3 first and unique to the new Model 3 Performance. It adjusts in real time to driver and road inputs to optimize ride and handling while improving ride comfort.
New controls and calibrations within the powertrain and Adaptive damping deliver a more predictable experience that more accurately meets the driver’s requirements, and the stability control has been modified to allow the driver to explore the range of performance in a variety of track environments.
Preset Mode:
Standard: calms, providing significant comfort and absorption improvements, but still provides good control and engagement of the ride in all conditions.
Sport: boosts damping control for faster stabilization times to increase contact with the road during focused driving and improve steering response, but still adapts to rougher roads.
V3: Maximizes body control and response by reducing adaptation to deliver high and consistent performance on closed circuit tracks (Track Mode V3).
The suspension has also been recalibrated from top to bottom for Handling Balance, Stability Assist, Regenerative Braking and ABS Adjustment Control to provide a more consistent and predictable driving experience in different track conditions, unlike the Magnetic suspension, the Model 3 performance utilizes a CDC Adaptive suspension, but it’s already quite high-level on the market.
Adaptive Suspension(CDC) and Magnetic suspension(MRC)
CDC Adaptive Suspension Systems is closer to Magnetic suspension in that it also uses springs to provide support and electronically adjusts the damping of the damper cartridges.However, the damping is not adjusted by special magnetorheological fluids (MRF) as the Magnetic Suspension; the Damper cartridges of CDC Adaptive Suspension Systems use ordinary hydraulic oil. The core technology comes from an electronically controlled hydrodynamic damping adjustment valve
Magnetic suspension (Magnetic Ride Control) has always been the Cadillac brand’s royal active suspension type. Magnetic suspension differs from air suspension in that it still uses springs to provide support. Inside Magnetic damper is a high-performance magnetorheological fluid(MRF).
The characteristic of the magnetorheological fluid is that the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid can be flexibly adjusted by an electronically controlled magnetic field, thus controlling the damping of the Damper. The magnetorheological fluid is controlled by the magnetic field, which is the most important characteristic of Magnetic Suspension—— QUICK RESPONSE. This allows suspension-equipped vehicles to switch flexibly between touring, sport and track driving modes.
Cosmartor Magnetic Suspension
Similar to the Model 3 Performance Adaptive Suspension, Cosmartor Magnetic Suspension has also tuned the ecu for the Model 3, which allows for a balanced handling, stability assistance, regenerative braking, abs adjustment, and damping adjustment for the entire vehicle.
The only difference is that the magnetorheological fluid reacts faster and has more flexibility in damping adjustments, resulting in better high-speed handling and stability, and can be installed on any of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y RWD/AWD models.
